The Capeharts was the name of the Fort Wayne Semi-Pro Baseball team which had previously been known as the GE Voltmen in the 1940s. When General Electric dropped their sponsorship of the club, Capehart Television Company stepped in to purchase the naming rights to the team. Capehart Television was part of the Farnsworth Television & Radio Corp. which was owned by Philo Farnsworth, the Fort Wayne-born inventor of the television.

The Capeharts continued the winning tradition started by the Voltmen, taking home the 1950 NBC World Series championship. Led by former Negro League star, Pat Scantlebury, the team traveled to Japan to take part in the "Inter-Hemisphere Non-Pro Baseball Championship" in which they defeated a Japanese All-Star team 4 games to 1.
